The Dream - My Wife Gave Me
A dream bike. A promise. A family. And the beginning of a lifelong journey.
3 MARCH 2025 · THE DAY MY DREAM BECAME REAL
EVERY RIDER HAS A DREAM
I believe every rider has one.
A motorcycle they look at a little longer than the others.
A motorcycle they imagine riding on an open road.
A motorcycle whose sound they recognize even before they see it.
For me, that motorcycle was the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
It wasn't just a bike I wanted to buy.
It was a dream I had carried for years.
Every passing year, I thought I would finally bring one home.
But for one reason or another, the time was never right.
Life had other priorities.
So the dream kept waiting.
And so did I.
My wife knew how much this bike meant to me.
She knew that whenever I saw a Royal Enfield on the road, my eyes followed it.
She knew this wasn't simply about buying a motorcycle.
It was about fulfilling something I had dreamed about for a very long time.
THE CONVERSATION THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Diwali 2025 was approaching, and I finally decided that I would buy my dream bike. I had made up my mind. This time, I was going to do it. But then my wife said something I wasn't expecting. "Don't buy it now. I want to gift you your dream bike." For a moment, everything stopped. I honestly didn't know what to say. The dream I had been trying to fulfill for years... My wife had decided to fulfill it for me. She had secretly started saving money for my bike. And in February 2025, she finally asked me: "How much does the bike cost?" I told her, "Around ₹3 lakh."
Then she said something I will never forget.
"I have saved half of it. We can go for it."
That moment wasn't just happiness.
It was pride.
It was love.
It was the feeling of realizing that the person standing beside you understands your dream deeply enough to make it her own.
I wasn't just getting a bike.
I was receiving a piece of her love.
10 FEBRUARY 2025
WE BOOKED THE DREAM.
On 10 February 2025, we booked the motorcycle. I can't properly explain the happiness I felt that day. For years, I had imagined the moment. And suddenly, it was no longer imagination. It was real. There was only one problem. The bike wasn't immediately available. Because of limited availability, I had to wait. And waiting for something you have dreamed about for years is a very different kind of waiting. Every day felt longer. Every phone call felt like it might be the call. But I had another little surprise planned.
A NUMBER FOR HER
I wanted my bike to carry something that belonged to my wife.
So when I booked the registration number, I decided to dedicate it to her.
I chose a number based on her date of birth.
I paid the additional RTO charges and booked it.
But I didn't tell her.
I kept it a secret.
Then, once the number was finalized, I finally told her:
"I booked your birthday as my bike number."
Her happiness at that moment was priceless.
Now the motorcycle wouldn't just carry my name.
It would carry a little piece of her too.
22 FEBRUARY 2025
"YOUR BIKE HAS ARRIVED."
The call finally came.
"Your Royal Enfield has arrived. You can come and see it."
I don't think I need to explain what happened next.
That evening, I went to the Royal Enfield godown.
And there it was.
My machine.
Freshly unloaded.
Standing there.
Waiting.
I walked toward it slowly.
I put my hand on it.
And for a moment, I didn't know what to say.
I had imagined this moment so many times.
But the real feeling was completely different.
I touched the tank.
I looked at the bike.
And somewhere inside, I felt something that words couldn't properly explain.
The dream was no longer on a poster, in a showroom, or in my imagination.
It was standing right in front of me.
I WANTED A MONDAY
After seeing the bike, I went back to the showroom and told them:
"I want to take delivery on Monday."
There was a reason.
I am a Shiv Bhakt, and Monday holds a special significance for me.
I wanted to bring my dream machine home on Mahadev's day.
But the showroom team told me that because of some RTO formalities, Monday wouldn't be possible.
They suggested 28 February for the delivery.
I was a little disappointed.
I had already imagined that Monday.
I had imagined bringing the bike home on that particular day.
But I decided I would wait.
If Monday was what I wanted, then I would wait for Monday.
The next Monday was:
3 MARCH 2025.
THE LONGEST WAIT
Waiting until the next Monday felt almost impossible.
I was excited.
I was impatient.
I was counting the days.
And that night after deciding the delivery date...
I barely slept.
The mind kept going back to the same thought:
"Tomorrow... my bike."
Some dreams make it difficult to sleep.
Not because of fear.
Because of happiness.
3 MARCH 2025
THE DAY WE BROUGHT HIM HOME
Monday finally arrived.
I didn't go alone.
I went with my wife and my little princess.
This wasn't just my day.
It was our day.
I had even booked a videographer because I knew I wanted to preserve these moments for the rest of my life.
When we reached the showroom, my machine was waiting.
Covered in a black cloth.
I completed all the documentation and formalities.
And then came the moment I had waited years for.
The cloth started coming off.
And there he was.
My Machine, The Royal Enfield
Indian Army Camo.
Bold. Rugged. Powerful.
And, to my eyes...
Absolutely mine.
I stood there looking at him, trying to take in the fact that this was actually mine.
I had chosen the Indian Army Camo colour very deliberately.
I have always been a proud soul of the Indian Army, and for me, this wasn't simply a colour offered on a motorcycle.
It represented something I deeply respect—
courage.
discipline.
strength.
service.
and the spirit of the Indian soldier.
Every time I look at my Commando, that colour reminds me of those values.
The dream I had carried for years was finally standing in front of me.
Not just as a motorcycle...
but as my machine, in a colour that means something to me.
A FAMILY MOMENT
My wife and my little princess performed the first pooja.
Watching them do it made the moment even more special.
This motorcycle wasn't entering my life alone.
It was entering our family.
After the showroom rituals, we took the bike to a Mahadev temple.
The priest performed the pooja, and we asked Mahadev for blessings for every road that lay ahead.
Every journey.
Every kilometre.
Every return home.
Then we brought the bike home.
And before entering the house, we performed another pooja.
The dream had finally arrived.
THE NIGHT I NAMED HIM
Later that night, we all sat in the parking area beside the bike. There was something peaceful about that moment. The excitement of the day had slowly settled. The bike was finally home. And I knew it needed a name.
I called him:
COMMANDO
Why?
Because from that day forward, he wasn't going to be just my motorcycle. He was going to be my companion. He would be with me through different roads. Different destinations. Different weather. Different situations. Through long rides. Through difficult roads. Through beautiful mornings. Through lonely stretches. Through moments when I simply needed to ride. No matter what the road looked like... Commando would be there.
A DREAM FULFILLED BY LOVE
When I look back at that day, I realize something.
I thought I was buying my dream bike.
But actually...
my wife was gifting me a dream.
A dream I had carried since childhood.
A dream that had waited through years of circumstances and responsibilities.
A dream that she understood.
A dream that she helped make real.
So, to my wife—
Thank you.
Thank you for understanding my dream.
Thank you for saving for it.
Thank you for believing that it mattered.
Thank you for turning something I had only imagined into something I could finally ride.
This bike will always remind me of you.
Because every time I start the engine...
I won't just remember the motorcycle.
I'll remember the woman who helped make the dream come true.
MORE THAN A MACHINE
People may look at it and see a Royal Enfield.
A motorcycle.
A machine.
A 350cc engine.
Two wheels.
But when I look at it...
I see a story.
I see my wife's love.
I see my daughter's smile.
I see the day we performed pooja together.
I see the road ahead.
I see the dreams of my childhood.
And I see countless journeys waiting to happen.
That's why Commando is not just my bike.
He is a part of my journey.
And perhaps that's why some motorcycles become more than machines.
They become companions.
They become memories.
They become family.
THE BEGINNING OF THE JOURNEY
3 March 2025 wasn't the day I bought a motorcycle.
It was the day a new chapter of my life began.
The chapter of Commando.
The chapter of long roads.
The chapter of solo rides.
The chapter of discovering places.
The chapter of meeting strangers.
The chapter of chasing dreams.
And perhaps, most importantly...
The chapter of discovering myself.
I don't know how many kilometres we will travel together.
I don't know how many mountains we'll cross.
I don't know how many sunsets we'll watch.
I don't know where every road will take us.
But I know one thing.
Wherever the road goes... I'll ride it with Commando.
THANK YOU, MY COMMANDO.
You were once a dream.
Then you became a gift.
Now, you are my companion.
And this is only the beginning.
Journeys. Stories. Soul.
